Students are placed based on their age as of September 1, 2024. To register, please call 301-762-1757 or fill out a form to schedule a trial class to determine your student's level. Students in Modern 2-5 will require faculty placement.
MODERN PROGRAM (AGES 7+)
Students will learn modern dance techniques and be exposed to a variety of movement styles. They will be introduced to Limon, Horton, and Graham dance techniques. Each level emphasizes body alignment, flexibility, and strength, as well as improving aerobic endurance. Students are encouraged to perform with aesthetic maturity as their movement vocabulary develops. The vocabulary includes floor work, standing warm-up, floor progression, jumps, turns, transitional movements, and leaps.

Performing opportunities: Modern students are eligible to perform in The Nutcracker, the Winter Collective, and the Spring Collective. In the instance that we cannot produce planned performances due to health restrictions, videos will be taken in in-studio classes and shared with parents.
