The schedule below for the Academic Ballet Classical Division includes the Pre-professional Program option schedule.
All classes in the Academic Ballet program require a faculty placement. Please call the office at 301-762-1757 to schedule a free trial/placement class, or for more information about registration at MBT. Thank you!
Academic Ballet – Classical Division
Students will focus their training in either the Classical Division or Contemporary Division starting at Academic Ballet Level 5.
The progression through the Classical Division of the Academic Ballet Program requires a traditional focus on pointe work for women, and strengthening, jumps, and partnering for men.
All Academic Ballet programs require faculty placement and full-year enrollment. Please call the office to schedule your free placement class.
Academic Ballet Levels 5 through 9+ are eligible to perform in The Nutcracker, the Spring Ballet, and the Annual Gala, as well as informal performances throughout the year. As part of their curriculum, these upper-level students must perform in at least one of MBT’s two major ballet productions annually to develop the artistry and confidence required to progress to the next level. In the instance that you have a known conflict with both ballet productions, please discuss with the artistic staff in advance for options to obtain performance credit. Due to COVID restrictions, the 2020 performance season will look very different. Please see information about Nutcracker opportunities from the office upon registration.
